On 4, 5 and 6 March, 2026, the international conference ‘A Spanish dictatorship in the world. Francoism, nation and gender in a transnational perspective’ will take place in the Meeting Room of the Faculty of Geography and History at the University of Valencia. This conference has been organised by the coordinated project ‘Francoism, Nation and Gender in a Transnational Perspective’ (FRANGETRANS), which includes Subproject 1 ‘Francoism and Nation. Transnational Perspectives’ and Subproject 2 ‘Gender and the Francoist Nation. Transnational and Intersectional Perspectives’.

It will consist of four sessions and three panel discussions divided over three days, in which members of the two subprojects will participate, commenting on and moderating the panel discussions.

– 4 March:

• 10.30am-12pm. Session 1, ‘Dictatorships’: presentations by Ismael Saz,Daniel Lvovich and Anna Catharina Hofmann. Moderated by Nuria Tabanera.
• 3.30-5.00 p.m. Session 2, ‘The Catholic Factor’: presentations by Pilar Salomón, Sara Prades and Alfonso Botti. Moderated by Javier Esteve.
• 6.30pm-8pm. Panel discussion 1, ‘Reactionary and ultra-reactionary continuities and ruptures’: presentations by Òscar Canet, Jacobo López and Andrea Vincenzini. Moderated by Alba Fernández Gallego.

– 5 March.
• 10:00-11:30 a.m. Session 3, ‘Falangism and Francoism from a gender perspective’: presentations by Gabriela de Lima Grecco, Toni Morant, Zira Box and Mónica García. Moderated by Sara Santamaría.
• 3.30-5.00 p.m. Panel discussion 2, ‘Fascism/Francoism’: speakers Katharina Seibert, Borja Pérez, Aurora Fuster and Jorge Conejos. Moderated by Toni Morant.
• 5.30-7.00 p.m. Panel discussion 3, ‘Intersectional perspectives’: speakers: Eider de Dios, Susana Bardavío, Sofía Rodríguez, Elena Solbes. Moderated by Cristina de Pedro.

– 6 March:
• 10:00-11:30 a.m. Session 4, ‘Spaces and representations of the nation’: speakers Julián Sanz, Ferran Archilés and Jorge Ramos. Moderated by Óscar Martín.
