Mónica García Fernández holds a degree in History (2011) and a PhD with European distinction from the University of Oviedo (2019). Since 2024, she has been a researcher in the Ramón y Cajal program at the Department of Contemporary History at the Autonomous University of Madrid. Previously, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the UPV/EHU (2020-2022) and at the Centre for the History of Ibero-America (CHIA) at the University of Leeds (2022-2023). In addition, she has completed research stays at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, the University of Glasgow, and the University of Lisbon. In 2023, she was also the recipient of a Beinecke Library fellowship at Yale University. Her research has focused on the norms and experiences of sexuality and love during the Franco regime, with a particular interest in the late Franco period.
