Working Team

Anna Catharina Hofmann (Martin Luther University, Halle-Wittenberg) holds a doctorate in history. Hofmann’s doctoral thesis on developmentalism in the Franco dictatorship was published in 2019 and awarded the Hedwig Hintze Prize of the Association of German Historians (VHD). The Spanish translation was published in 2023. In addition to the second Francoism, her lines of research include the comparative history of dictatorships and the analysis of developmental policies in the twentieth century. In her new project, prof. Hofmann compares the evolution of three European development regimes from the 1920s to the 1970s, using Spain as a case study; France and Romania, with particular emphasis on political legitimation strategies and nation building processes.
