Susana Bardavío Estevan is a Professor of Spanish Literature at the University of Burgos. She previously worked at Brooklyn College (City University of New York) and the University of Valladolid. She has also been a visiting researcher at the University of Barcelona, the Sapienza University of Rome, and the University of Lisbon. Her research has focused on Spanish literature and the press of the Spanish Restoration period and the early Franco regime, from the perspective of sociology and cultural studies. In recent years, she has focused on the analysis of women’s narrative and the press from the perspective of literary gender studies in two periods of Spanish literature: the second half of the 19th century and the first decades of Franco’s dictatorship. From the latter period, she studies the output of women writers within the Falange movement, focusing, among other aspects, on the construction, dissemination, and questioning of certain models of femininity during the Franco regime.
